العلم المزابي هو رمز ثقافي حديث يرتبط بأت مزاب، سكان M’zab Valley، وهي منطقة تاريخية تُعد جزءًا من المجال الأمازيغي الأوسع المعروف باسم Tamazgha. وعلى خلاف الأعلام الوطنية ذات الجذور السياسية الرسمية، يُفهم هذا العلم أساسًا بوصفه تعبيرًا عن الهوية والتراث والذاكرة الجماعية.

يتميّز تصميمه عادةً بألوان ذات دلالات رمزية واضحة. فالأصفر يرمز إلى الصحراء الكبرى، معبّرًا عن الواقع الجغرافي الذي شكّل حياة المزابيين وتاريخهم. أما الأبيض فيرتبط غالبًا بمعاني السلام والانسجام الاجتماعي والقيم الروحية المتجذّرة في تقاليد المنطقة. وفي الوسط يظهر الرمز ⵣ (ياز)، وهو علامة أمازيغية معروفة ترمز إلى الحرية والهوية والاستمرارية عبر شمال أفريقيا.

في التفسير المزابي، يُصوَّر الرمز ⵣ كثيرًا باللون الأخضر، وهو لون يحمل معنى محليًا عميقًا؛ إذ يشير إلى الواحة والنخلة ومفهوم الحياة المستمرة في قلب البيئة الصحراوية. ويعكس هذا الاختيار سردية الصمود والتكيّف والتوازن البيئي التي تميّز مجتمعات وادي مزاب.

Contrairement aux drapeaux étatiques issus d’une histoire politique formelle, cette bannière exprime avant tout l’identité, l’héritage et la mémoire collective.

Son design repose généralement sur des couleurs à forte portée symbolique. Le jaune évoque le Sahara et la réalité désertique qui a façonné la vie et l’histoire mozabites.
